History[]

Meguru Bachira - Kindergarten

Bachira in kindergarten.

From a very young age, Bachira loved football. He spent every waking moment kicking the ball, and when he played with others, he was the best among them. Bachira specifically loved dribbling, and when he got into the zone, he would become swift and strong. He often thought there is nothing more fun than playing football the way he does. But, due to his natural talent at football and dribbling, he started getting bullied and excluded by the other children. They would often call him names, such as "weirdo," "monster," or "freak."

Nevertheless, Bachira's mother encouraged him to keep believing in himself, no matter how people felt or what they said about him. She implied that his unyielding belief is the voice of a "monster" inside him. She also shared that she too has a monster inside her that she often relies on that voice when pursuing her art.

Bachira then began to play football alone. His inspiration and motivation manifested themselves into an imaginary friend or "monster" that he played with. Bachira got older, and he started playing on a football team. Once again, he was the best among them, and he felt as if nobody could keep up with his level of football. Bachira starts wondering if there were other people like him. Subsequently, after watching Noel Noa play on TV, Bachira proclaims he wants to play football like him.

During a game in the Chiba Prefecture Tournament, Bachira thought to himself that he does not want to pass to his teammates as they were untrustworthy and skilled (like him). Moreover, Bachira wished that he could find teammates who enjoy football as much as he does. Nevertheless, because Bachira refuses to pass to his current teammates, his team loses the ball to the opposing team. As Bachira tries to get back up, he wonders if everybody has lost the monster inside them. He also asks himself if his teammates also lost sight of the fun of soccer. Bachira feels like everybody is focused only on winning and not the joy of playing the game. Despite these feelings, Bachira kept on playing football and kept on believing in the fun of it. Yet he became afraid inside, afraid that if things stayed the same, he would never meet someone like him and have to play football alone. The mere thought of it makes him so scared he feels as if he might die.

After coming home from a day of practice, Bachira's mom hands Bachira a letter from the Japanese Football Association. The letter states that he has been invited to a special training camp called Blue Lock.

Introduction Arc[]

Isagi surprised to see Bachira sleeping on the floor

Bachira sleeping on the floor.

After arriving at Blue Lock and receiving his training gear, Bachira decides to take a nap on the floor of their dormitory since he stayed up the night before from excitement. Upon the start of the game of tag, Igaguri sees Bachira's sleeping form considers him an easy target. Just as Igaguri is about to tag him, Bachira suddenly goes into a handstand, kicking Igaguri in the face. Shocked by this, Igaguri complains about Bachira's use of violence. However, Bachira points out that the only rule was to not use their hands.

Kunigami confronts Bachira, requesting fair play. Bachira dislikes Kunigami for taking things too seriously and holds Kunigami hostage by putting him in a chokehold. Bachira then calls Isagi to tag Kunigami. Frustrated, Kunigami frees himself and throws Bachira to the ground, accidently throwing him onto Igaguri, whose foot is injured.

Isagi considers tagging the injured Igaguri, but ultimately decides to target someone stronger than him, looking a Kira, who is the top-ranked player in the room. Bachira is excited by Isagi's idea, taking the ball from him and aiming at Kira with 10 seconds left. Kira initially thinks he has evaded Bachira's kick, but Isagi kicks the ball, hitting Kira in the face with 1 second remaining.

After Kira is eliminated, Ego explans his rationale for the game's design and praises Isagi and Bachira's performance. He adds that this attitude is what he is looking for from the Blue Lock players.

Meanwhile, Isagi then thinks it's not his fault Kira was eliminated from Blue Lock. Instead, it was Bachira's mistake since he sent Isagi the ball. Nonetheless, Bachira explains that he only sent Isagi the ball because he knew he would pass it back. This answer caught everyone dumbfounded. Nevertheless, they let go of Bachira's explanation. Ego then proceeds to announce the end of the Blue Lock Entrance Exam. The 11 players in the shared room will live there together and survive another day in Blue Lock as a collective called Team Z. [1]

Bachira and Isagi trains together

Bachira and Isagi train together.

Bachira and Team Z spent the next few days training their bodies and assimilating themselves into the way of living at Blue Lock. Later in the night, Isagi can't sleep due to thinking heavily about what has been said to him while at Blue Lock so far. The thought of being expelled at Blue Lock frightens Isagi.

Isagi walks out of the shared room to do some training but Bachira notices and asks to join him. They practice together, and Bachira explains the motives behind his actions during the game of tag. Bachira reveals that he has a monster inside him, and this monster fuels all of his plays and decisions while playing soccer. Bachira notes that this monster wanted him to tag Kira. Similarly, this monster also told him to pass the ball towards Isagi. Though confused by Bachira's words, Isagi found Bachira's talk interesting and wanted to know more about what he means.

After their talk, Bachira and Isagi continue their training but are soon asked to return to their rooms. The following day, the list of participants of Blue Lock has now been settled after the dormitory test. Subsequently, Ego announces the new rankings; Bachira is ranked #265.[2]

First Selection Arc[]

Team X vs Team Z[]

Bachira starts the match against Team X in possession of the ball and passes to Isagi. As Isagi is challenged by the opponent's defense, his teammate, Raichi, steals the ball from him. This prompts chaos on the field as other players attempt to win posession of the ball to play for themselves rather than as a team. Shoei Baro takes dominance on the field, and other Team X players begin passing to him to score goals. [3]

Igarashi (Igaguri) steals the ball from Bachira

Igaguri steals the ball from Bachira.

Given Team Z's selfish playstyle, Isagi decides to work with Bachira, though his pass to Bachira is intercepted by Igaguri and is subsequently stolen by Team X.[4] With Team Z losing with a score of 0 to 5, Bachira encourages Isagi to work with him to make a comeback. After Bachira successfully passes to Isagi, Isagi drives the ball down the field but becomes intimidated by Baro's sudden appearance. Losing confidence in himself, Isagi sees signals from Raichi and Kunigami to pass to them, and ultimately Isagi passes to Kunigami, who scores the lone goal for Team Z before the game ends.[5]

After the game, Raichi states that Isagi's failure as the center forward and striker resulted in the team's loss. Raichi notes that he should be replaced with Isagi and, Naruhaya agrees that Isagi needs to be replaced but by him instead. Kunigami notes that Isagi and Bachira's actions led to his goal. Team Z then begins to wonder what Ego intends for them to learn during First Selection. Ego appears on the screen and offers advice on what it takes to be a great striker, including having a weapon to utilizes and optimize. This begins a discussion on Team Z with players indentifying their unique skills. Bachira notes that his weapon is his dribbling.[6]

Team Y vs Team Z[]

Niko steals the ball from Bachira

Niko steals the ball from Bachira.

The first forward of Team Z in this match is Bachira. Bachira easily broke through by himself using his super-solo strategy. Nonetheless, Bachira was caught unprepared when Niko stole the ball from behind. Isagi remarks that, like Team Z, Team Y has its own strategies. After a few minutes, Bachira tries once more, but 10 minutes have already passed. The next striker is Kunigami.

In the middle of the spirited game, Isagi realizes that he was wrong. Not just mistaken, the whole Team Z was tricked. Isagi learned that it wasn't Okawa who they need to keep watch of. Instead, it was Niko pulling all the shots for Team Y. The core of Team Y was Niko, not Okawa. Niko has been maintaining Team Y's defensive and offensive stability. Niko has been Team Y's secret leader. This shocking information led Isagi to the decision that he must put a stop to Niko. Bachira passes the ball to Isagi drives the ball towards the goal to score. Before the ball reaches the net, Niko stops it. Luckily, Gagamaru rebounds the ball. [7]

Bachira passes the ball to Isagi (Team Z vs Team Y)

Bachira passes the ball to Isagi.

Once more, Team Z has the ball. With Isagi in possession of the ball, he drives it towards the other side of the court. Then, he passes to Kunigami. Desperate to stop Team Z from attacking, Team Y opts to foul than allow them to score a goal. Before he is swarmed by the opponents, Kunigami passes the ball to Bachira. Bachira then kicks the ball towards Gagamaru's side. Everyone thought that the pass was for Gagamaru, but it was actually for Isagi. Isagi, with the goal right in front of him, strikes it with everything he has. Isagi successfully scores, ending the game with a score of 1-2. [8]

Following this, Gagamaru asked Isagi if he knew where the ball was heading. Isagi, however, answered that he ran just accordingly because he wanted to score. Isagi adds that it may have been sheer luck. Bachira, on the other hand, tells Isagi that he saw Isagi, so he intentionally passed to him. [9]

Team W vs Team Z[]

The TV screen in the shared room opens and changes to an announcement. A countdown for Team W and Team Z is shown. Written at the screen, Team W and Team Z's match is in less than a day. After the announcement, the team resumes their training with Isagi playing alone. Bachira then asked Isagi if he hadn't noticed that Isagi had become the foundation for Team Z. Bachira invites Isagi to play alongside the team. Isagi accepts his offer, and Team Z trains together to prepare for their match against Team W. [10]

The following day, at Team Z's monitoring room, the team (besides Kuon) prepares for their upcoming match. Iemon leads the discussion. Iemon informs them that Team W's key players are the Wanima Brothers (Keisuke Wanima and Junichi Wanima). When the twins played against Baro's team, the brothers scored 4 goals combined. Isagi then tells the others that the twins are useless when they are isolated. Iemon agrees with him, saying that to defeat Team W, they must split them apart.

Kunigami and Bachira steals the ball from Junichi

Kunigami and Bachira steals the ball from Junichi.

Several minutes have passed, and the game has begun. The match is going well for Team Z. Right off the bat, Kuon scored the first goal in the game. Serving as Junichi's spokesperson, Keisuke scolds his teammates for not being skilled defenders. The sport resumes with a score of 0-1, Team Z in the lead. Junichi has the ball, but it seems like he does not want to score. A half-hearted Junichi made it easy for Kunigami to steal the ball from him. Kunigami then passed the ball to Bachira. Seeing Kuon open and unmarked, Bahira kicks the ball to him. Fortunately, Kuon receives the ball and scores a goal. The score is now 2-0.

Thirty minutes have passed in the first half of the game. Following their new tactic, the three forward players will be Gagamaru, Raichi, and Naruhaya. To stop Naruhaya, who has the ball, Junichi grabs Naruhaya's jersey. Because this is a foul from Team W, Team Z is given a free kick. Bachira, doing the free-kick, sees his target. Instead of scoring by himself, he kicks at a height advantageous to only one player, Kuon. Kuon hits the ball with his head, scoring another goal. Team Z has now scored 3 points, while Team W has none. [11]

Nonetheless, after the third goal, Team W's defense improved immensely. To Isagi, it appeared as if Team W knew all of Team Z's weapons and strategies. Likewise, the top scorer for this match, Kuon, was also making several mistakes. Because of these, Team W was able to score 4 goals. It was then revealed that Kuon had leaked information about Team Z to Team W. In exchange, Team W will allow Kuon to score goals against them (just enough to become Team Z's top scorer). Once Team Z realized this, they were baffled. Nevertheless, time was running. Although the sudden betrayal was frustrating and disheartening, Team Z opted to focus on the game. The score was 3-4, with Team W in the lead. If Team Z lost this match, they will be evicted. Thus, they chose to settle on a tie instead. Fortunately, their efforts weren't wasted. The match ended in a draw, with a score of 4-4.

Team V vs Team Z[]

In Team Z's monitoring room, the team discusses their next match. They also watched the game between Team W and Team Y. Apparently, the competition ended in a draw thanks to Niko and the Wanima brothers (Keisuke and Junichi). Iemon, leading the discussion, informs the team of the change in their rankings. Team Z is now in the third position. Chigiri then changes the conversation to ask about Niko's change. Looking back, the old Niko wouldn't score on his own. Instead, Niko would pass and rely on others. Bachira suggested that someone might have inspired Niko. [12]

Following this, the team rests in their shared room. At Team Z's room, Bachira, Gagamaru, Igaguri, and Isagi plays a game of "what does the face of that Wanima bro mean?" game. Bachira plays the role of Junichi, while the rest try to guess what he is saying. Isagi says that Bachira's facial expression means, "I wonder if we'll win the next game." Igaguri guessed that Bachira's face implies that his stomach hurts. Gagamura, on the other hand, understood Bachira's expression as "Grandma, are you doing well?" Bachira tells the three that they got it wrong and that he was doing an "I wonder what rain tastes like" expression. Seeing the four goofing around, Iemon scolds them, telling them that they should be focusing on their last and next game. Bachira then jokes, saying that Iemon is making an "I'm so mad" face.

After a few minutes, Bachira asks the team what will happen if the top strikers are tied. Chigiri answers, saying that the player with the least yellow cards will advance. Bachira then asks what if they're also tied in that aspect. Ego then appears on the screen. He answers Bachira's question. Ego tells them that the winner would be decided based on their standing in the Blue Lock ranking. Ego then shows the updated rankings. Now, the player with the highest rank in Team Z is Kuon. Followed by Chigiri, Isagi, Kunigami, Gagamaru, Bachira, Iemon, Raichi, Imamura, Naruhaya, and Igarashi, respectively. [13]

Several hours passed, and Team Z enters the playing field. It'll all be over if Team Z is unable to claim victory. Bachira calms down Isagi, who is fearing the end of his football career. Bachira then tells him that all they have to do is give it their best. Isagi then calms down a bit. A few seconds later, Team V enters the playing field.

Bachira and Isagi marks Reo (Team V vs Team Z)

Bachira and Isagi mark Reo.

The round starts with Reo with the ball. Isagi believes that he has a good grasp of Team V's weapons after watching clips of their games. Watching Reo play, Isagi considered Reo good at dribbling. Because of this, he believes he can't handle Reo alone. So, he asks for Bachira's help to steal the ball. Marked by 2 players, Reo passes the ball to Zantetsu to avoid it from being stolen by Team Z. [14]

After several minutes, Team V was already able to score 3 goals. With a score of 3-0, Isagi believes that Team Z has already lost. Any hope of winning is gone. Team Z starts to lose its optimistic outlook. Well, besides Kuon and Bachira. Kuon feels at ease knowing that he's the top striker of Team Z. On the other hand, Bachira is excited to play with strong opponents. Bachira was the only one left with a fighting spirit. [15]

Bachira feeling motivated to play against Team V

Bachira smiles even though their opponent is in the lead.

Team V relaxes, knowing that they're in the lead by 3 points. Nagi asks Reo how many goals he has to score to slack off. Reo, seeing Team Z's frustrated faces, tells him that he thinks it's alright now. Reo remarks that Team Z looks broken already, like the previous teams they fought against. Till Zantetsu and Nagi notice Bachira's smiling. They wonder why he's still not feeling defeated yet.

Meanwhile, Isagi asks Bachira how he can stay optimistic, given the game's current score. Bachira tells Isagi that he feels fired up after playing against great players. He then asks Isagi if he doesn't feel the same. Bachira asks him if he's feeling scared. Bachira then says to Isagi that Reo, Nagi, and Zantetsu are super special. Bachira believes that those three are like him and Isagi. Bachira then says that to win, all he and Isagi have to do is become super special as well.

Bachira tells Isagi that, to win against Team V, they have to be super special

Bachira tells Isagi they also need to be super special.

The game resumes with Bachira asking for a pass from Isagi. Isagi passes to Bachira. Bachira then says to Isagi that sometimes their weapons will be useless. However, to avoid defeat, all they have to do is go beyond their limits. Bachira then says that the monster within him believes that those driven in a corner are the ones with nothing to lose. Reo marks Bachira, telling him that he finds him fascinating. To pass through Reo's defense, Bachira did hyperspeed scissors. This shocks and confuses Reo, allowing Bachira to get past him. Reo then calls for Zantetsu's help to stop Bachira. Bachira tells Zantetsu that if it were a speed battle, Bachira would've lost. So, he decided to break through Zantetsu instead. Bachira did an elasatico mid-air, escaping Zantetsu's defense. Reo shouts at 3 of his teammates to stop Bachira all at once, believing that one on one won't work against him. Bachira passes through the 3 players and scores a goal with a rabona. The score is now 3-1, with Team V in the lead.

Watching Bachira score a goal against the undefeated Team V, Team Z feels that they still have a chance of winning. [16] Team Z runs toward Bachira, shocked by his skills. Imamura tells Bachira that he was so amazing to be able to score by himself. Igaguri then says that Bachira did a super special goal where he went beyond his limits. Feeling the adrenaline rush, Igaguri believes that he can do something like that. Kunigami then stops Igaguri and tells him that he doesn't have to do anything absurd like Bachira. Kunigami states that Bachira's goal was thanks to his dribbling weapon. However, it became special after Bachira developed his own formula. Kunigami then recommends Team Z find and define their own formulas to score against Team V.

The heated match resumes. The ball was tossed from one team. With the ball, Nagi attempts to score another goal. To avoid this, Igaguri uses his face to stop the ball in its tracks. Then, Bachira retrieves the ball. Seeing Bachira with the ball, Reo marks him. Reo then says to Bachira that his score a while ago was just a fluke. Reo then tells him that he won't be able to score another goal against him. Bachira then states that the situation has changed. Unlike before, Bachira's not the only one who will attack. Bachira declares to Reo that it's time for Team Z's revival and passes the ball to Kunigami. [17]

The game resumes, and the second half starts. Kunigami has the ball and passes to Bachira. Bachira then kicks the ball toward Gagamaru; however, Gagamaru ran too fast towards the pass that he went beyond its direction. To avoid the ball from being stolen by Team V, Gagamaru does a scorpion kick, an acrobatic shot. Gagamaru kicks the ball, hoping to score a goal. The ball almost hit the net; however, Zantetsu stopped it. [18]

The game then resumes after a while. Reo has the ball. While dribbling the ball, Reo vows that he won't lose. Raichi, however, appears in front of Reo. Raichi then says to Reo that he'll be the one to hand Reo his first loss. With Raichi marking Reo, Reo finds it challenging to do something with the ball. He can't pass it to Zantetsu because he is currently being blocked by Chigiri and Naruhaya. Besides, Nagi, who is in front of the goal, is blocked by Igaguri and Imamura. Plus, Reo can't forcibly pass through Raichi because he might lose the ball. Having a difficult time, Reo considers that the field is currently controlled by Team Z. Knowing that, Reo can't believe that he and Nagi will lose.

Seeing Reo's hopeless face, Nagi started running. Suddenly, Nagi had the initiative to play football. This shocks everyone, especially Team Z. After Nagi's goal (and awakening), the game resumes. Bachira, with the ball, kicks towards Chigiri. Zantetsu catches up with Chigiri and tries to steal the ball from him. Chigiri notes that Zantetsu's initial velocity is faster than his; however, Chigiri's top speed is quicker than Zantetsu's. Before Chigiri and Zantetsu reach the ball, Nagi appears in front of them. Nagi tells Chigiri that he'll be taking the ball from him. [19]

Nevertheless, Team Z was able to stop Nagi from reclaiming the ball. Moreover, Isagi has the ball. It's an all-or-nothing for Team Z. Isagi notes that he can see the field's future. He says that he knows who among Team Z can keep the ball rolling and running. It is revealed that Isagi is referring to Bachira, Kunigami, and Chigiri. Isagi says that the goal scent is coming from those three players. Reo appears in front of Isagi, telling him that he'll put a stop to Isagi. Isagi believes that, for the last play, he'll be the one to score. Isagi will see through it that he'll be the one to kick the finishing goal.

Before Reo can steal the ball from Isagi, Isagi passes the ball to Bachira. With his dribbling skills, Bachira cuts through the enemy line. While doing so, players from Team V catches up with Bachira. Desperate to stop him, Team V will even resort to fouling just to end Bachira's dribbling. Before Bachira is tackled by a player from Team V, he passes the ball back to Isagi. Isagi sees Chigiri and kicks the ball toward him. [20]

Team Z let go of their panic to focus their attention on the current match. Team Z gave their all in this match, knowing that losing would mean that they won't reach their dreams in football. Through Team Z's passionate plays, Team Z successfully scored a goal against Team V. Team Z was then declared the winner of this match.

Back at Team Z's room, they celebrate their win against Team V and their survival in the first selection. Kuon asks if someone can get some drinks. Bachira and Isagi volunteers.

At the fifth stratum dining hall, Bachira and Isagi pick up the water bottles. Isagi then thanks Bachira for passing to him. Bachira then says that he doesn't need to thank him. Bachira notes that Isagi was able to score because of his own skills. Isagi then says that he didn't do anything special. Bachira then asks Isagi if he figured out something. Isagi agrees in an unsure manner. Isagi thinks that he was able to understand a bit more about his weapon in the previous match. Isagi realizes that he can predict future events on the field with his spatial awareness. Besides, Isagi noticed that all of his goals had been a one-touch shots. Now that he understands his skills, Isagi believes that he can now create his formula. Isagi feels like he's one step closer to becoming the world's best striker.

Then, Isagi notices Bachira staring at him. Isagi felt embarrassed after saying too much. Bachira, however, laughs it off and tells him he's slowly improving his ego and confidence. Bachira jokingly repeats the words "ego" in a chanting manner. Bachira says to Isagi that he makes things interesting. Bachira then gives Isagi a high five. After that, Bachira gives

While laughing, Bachira and Isagi notice some players walking outside. All of them were crying. Isagi realized that they were all evicted players from the losing team. Meanwhile, Niko appears in front of Bachira and Isagi. Niko then explains to Isagi that he realized something during their match. After seeing Isagi score, Niko started making goals for himself. Niko then declares to Isagi that he won't lose next time. Bachira then jokes and says the Isagi is quite popular.

Bringing the drinks that Kuon requested, Bachira and Isagi enter Team Z's room. Upon entering, they see their teammates sleeping on the floor. Everyone was exhausted after playing and celebrating. Next, Team Z will have to face the upcoming challenges. [21]

Second Selection Arc[]

Bachira is the 16th player to pass the first phase of the Second Selection. In forming teams of 3 for the next phase, he pairs with Isagi. When Nagi approaches Isagi to join a team composed of him and Reo, Isagi refuses to give up playing with Bachira. As a result, Nagi joins Isagi and Bachira to form a trio.

Moving to the next stage, the only other team of 3 players is that consisting of the top 3 ranked players: Rin Itoshi, Jyubei Aryu, and Aoshi Tokimitsu. Isagi, Nagi, and Bachira agree to play against them. They lose the game with a score of 2 to 5, and Aryu advocates for Bachira to join their team.

After Isagi and Nagi win their next two matches, picking up Baro and Chigiri, the two teams of four match again. Bachira's team wins with a score of 5 to 4 and they bring Isagi to their team, becoming the first team to clear the Second Selection.
