The Second Selection (二次
Synopsis[]
Summary[]
Isagi enters a small area and is given a ball. A holographic Blue Lock Man appears with a holographic gate and goal zone. A red circle with the ball being the middle then appears and starts getting smaller. Isagi figures this is penalty area situational training. He takes a shot but the Blue Lock Man saves it, which also surprises Isagi that the hologram touched the ball. A timer then appears giving Isagi 90 minutes to clear the 1st Stage by scoring 100 goals. Isagi figures it out and the next ball appears at different location, along with the goalkeeper and goal zone. Isagi realizes that needs to assess the situation and score as each time the goalkeeper and ball will be switching positions. Isagi starts scoring goal after goal, liking the training as it recreates the final moments in front of goal, which means he can hone his weapon and improve his shots. After scoring 30 goals, level 2 starts and three hologram defenders are added. He takes a shot, but misses and realizes it has become much harder and he needs to become more accurate.
Teieri explains that the training room uses high-res panels that can fire ball from its walls at random which is similar to some German top club facilities. The room creates situations based on each player's individual qualities and has Blue Lock Man system, an AI hologram goalkeeper programmed using data from world-class goalkeepers. The balls have microchip sensor in them, which makes physical interactions with the hologram possible. With all this, Teieri tells Ego that they run out of funds, but Ego doesn't care as this is what he envisioned. Ego states that those who survived thanks to other's will find this as a challenge, but those that can turn zero into one with their weapon, will be able to evolve as they hone their skills.
Isagi scores 60 goals and the simulation turns from Level 2 to Level Max. The defender holograms start moving and the ball shot at Isagi is also spinning. He tries taking a shot, but fails to control the ball. Ego notes that the max level recreates what happens in the box in top-level matches. Players need to assess the situation and respond, do a quality shoot with accuracy, and have enough stamina to sustain all that for 90 minutes. To pass they need mind, technique and physical strength. Isagi fails to score again, but thanks to all the physical conditioning they did, he is able to continue running. Isagi realizes that all of his goals happened thanks to Bachira passes, which unlike the current balls he gets, Bachira was passing him where and how Isagi wanted the ball. Kunigami was drawing defenders towards him and Chigiri was waiting for his passes, and all three helped him score. He wasn't alone, but he needs strength that allows him to fight alone. Isagi tries really harder and assess the situation and take a shot, but hits the post. His spacial awareness and position were perfect, but his direct shot didn't go where he envisioned it. He figures he lacks technique to make good contact. Isagi then figures he needs only 70% of the power he was using to shoot and in the final moment, to direct all of his attention to the point of impact. He manages to score and gets excited figuring his formula as he discovers more sides of him he didn't knew about. With this, Isagi then manages to score 100 goals and clears the 1st Stage.
Isagi proceeds to the 2nd Stage. He enters a room with other players and a message appears telling him to form a team of 3 and proceed. He sees Nagi and Mikage and guesses they are waiting for Tsurugi. Moments later Bachira comes and is happy to see Isagi. He immediately assumes he and Isagi are forming a team and wonders who would be their third. Isagi is fine with them forming a team and guesses they can form a team with Kunigami or Chigiri. As they need to choose one, Bachira asks him which of the two he prefers and Isagi states they should take the first one to clear. Nagi approaches Isagi and asks him to join his team with Mikage. Mikage is surprised that Nagi wanted and waited for Isagi. Nagi explains that in their game he was the most impressive and he wants to play football with him. Isagi declines stating he is teaming up with Bachira. Nagi then wants to join Isagi's team. Hearing that Mikage is shocked, and wonders what about himself. Nagi tells him that he taught him football and the two will become the best in the world, however they lost and weren't the best. Nagi wants to understand his feeling of frustration and play with Isagi. Seeing he is serious, Mikage is frustrated, but accepts it. Bachira asks Isagi what he will do. Isagi is fine with Kunigami or Chigiri, but also wants to play with Nagi and accepts Nagi to join them.
The three of them then proceed and Nagi tells Mikage that they will be seeing each other later. As they enter the tunnel, Bachira asks Nagi if he is coldhearted. Nagi states he is missing Mikage, but also wanted to join them and he is following his ego. The three then enter the 3rd Stage room, excited that they will win. Inside they find Rin Itoshi, Jyubei Aryu and Aoshi Tokimitsu. Ego then shows up on screen and explains the 3rd Stage is a battle of three versus three. Isagi then worries that he is facing Itoshi.
Kunigami clears the 1st Stage and enters the room of 2nd Stage. He sees Chigiri, who is the only face he recognizes. Chigiri explains he talked with others and Isagi, Bachira and Nagi formed a team. Kunigami realizes they left him behind, which pisses him off. Chigiri feels the same and have a suggestion. Kunigami then states he probably has the same suggestion and both asks each other to form a team.
Ego explains that the 3rd Stage is a 3vs3 mini game with a Blue Lock Man as each team`s goalkeeper. The first team to score five goals wins. Then the winning team steals a man from the loosing team and forms a four-man team. Bachira and Nagi feels its like the game Red Rover. 4th Stage is then 4vs4, where the winning team again steals a player and forms a five-man team. The newly formed five-man team then clears the 5th Stage and passes the second selection. Bachira asks about the loosing team and Ego states the loosing four-man team becomes a three-man team and goes back one stage and plays a 3vs3 game again. If the three-man team becomes two-man team, they will play against another two-man team. The player that isn't picked from the loosing two-man team, will be disqualified. Ego names the second selection as Rivalry Battle, a game where you steal your rivals. They are free to choose which teams they play and both teams must agree to play a match. As more teams will be forming and coming to this room, Isagi feels they don't need to play against Itoshi. Nagi notes that if they are able to choose who they play against, they should base their choice based on who they want. Ego confirms and to help them choose, he will be announcing the new Blue Lock rankings.
Isagi rank turns to 15 and Ego explains that this time there are no fake rankings. Ego notes its the order in which they passed the 1st Stage. Bachira is 16th, while Nagi is 7th. Isagi then wonders if they should wait for another team to come. He then sees Tokimitsu who is ranked 3rd, who is nervous and starts to panic that if he loses that no one will pick him. Aryu, who is ranked 2nd, states that they should be playing against the 4th, 5th and 6th, and beating a team like Isagi, won't make him beautiful. Itoshi tells him to shup up and that he doesn't care who they face. Itoshi is there to win and Aryu and Tokimitsu are there just to fill the numbers. Itoshi formed a team with them since they were the first to clear the stage, but they and the Blue Lock are just a stepping stone for him to join the U20. He is only interested in joining the national team and surpassing his brother. Isagi apologizes to Bachira and Nagi. He knows its risky, but goes to Itoshi and states that if he doesn't care against who he plays, Isagi's ego is telling him to play against Itoshi.

Junichi also cries and as Keisuke leaves, Isagi and Bachira overhear Junichi talking and stating he will crush those that have separated them.
