"Declaration" (宣言 (せんげん) Sengen?) is the eighth chapter of the 17th volume and the 148th chapter overall of the Blue Lock manga series.

Summary[]

The roar of the crowd echoes through the stadium as the final seconds tick away. Atsuto Tereasa's voice, amplified by the stadium's speakers, announces the dramatic climax. Yoichi Isagi, the lone figure in the goal box, unleashes a blistering direct shot, a testament to his raw talent and unwavering determination. The ball arces through the air, a moment suspended in time, before nestling into the net. The Blue Lock Eleven erupts in jubilation. Nagi, Bachira, and Isagi, the trio at the heart of this victory, celebrate their triumph with a wild embrace. The referee's whistle pierces the air, signaling the end of the match. Blue Lock Eleven has emerged victorious, defeating the formidable U-20 team with a score of 3-4. Anri Teieri, overcome with emotion, weeps tears of joy as his teammates mob Isagi in a chaotic dogpile. Rin Itoshi, Shoei Baro, and Yo Hiori stand apart; their expressions are a mix of disbelief and resentment. Isagi, the hero of the moment, lets out a primal roar, a cathartic release of adrenaline and emotion. The defeated U-20 players, exhausted and in dismay, slump to the ground.

Ryusei Shido, the captain of the U-20 team, can't help but question Sae Itoshi's strategy. He wonders why Sae hadn't opted for a more direct approach, passing the ball forward immediately to capitalize on the dwindling time. Sae, however, remains composed, explaining his reasoning. With only a minute left, a series of intricate passes would have been too risky, potentially wasting precious time. He believes that a more decisive, direct attack was the optimal choice. Sae reveals that he had intended to pass the ball directly to Shido, but Rin's swift interception had thwarted his plan. Shido, ever the competitor, playfully claims the goal as his own, teasing Sae about his failure to outmaneuver Rin. He even goes so far as to demand Sae's phone number, a lighthearted exchange that belies the intensity of the match.

As the dust settles, Jyubei Aryu approaches Isagi, complimenting his "very stylish ending sequence." Isagi, still processing the events, is momentarily confused, but Bachira can't contain his laughter. Oliver Aiku, the U-20's captain and defender, seeks out Isagi to offer his congratulations. He inquires if Isagi had deliberately targeted his blind spot, a question that intrigues the young forward. Isagi admits that he had indeed planned his shot to exploit Aiku's weakness, showcasing his tactical acumen and self-belief. With Isagi's audacity impressing Aiku, he acknowledges Blue Lock's victory and shares a moment of sportsmanship. Sae, still reflecting on the match, confesses his initial misjudgment of Japanese football's potential. He praises Isagi for awakening Rin's dormant instincts, recognizing the young striker's ability to ignite passion and drive. Sae declares that Isagi, with his egoistic ambition, has the potential to reshape the future of Japanese football. Rin, initially misinterpreting Sae's words, is left bewildered and furious when he realizes that the praise was directed at Isagi, not himself.

As the post-match frenzy unfolds, Gurimu Igarashi, the ever-enthusiastic manager, drags Isagi to a waiting news crew. The interviewer, eager to capture the moment, asks Isagi about his feelings on the game and his aspirations for the future. With the sudden attention overwhelming Isagi, he struggles to articulate his thoughts, simply expressing his joy at the victory. The interviewer then presses him about his goals for the upcoming U-20 World Cup. Isagi, initially hesitant, eventually declares his intention to lead Japan to victory, a bold statement that echoed through the stadium and beyond.
