"Last Step" ( (さい) () (いっ) () Saigo no Ippo?) is the 137th chapter of the Blue Lock manga series.

Summary[]

Yoichi Isagi recalls some of Ego's words from the beginning of Blue Lock: "A striker is someone who carries that responsibility and fights with everything they have until the last second." As Sae Itoshi locks onto Isagi's body, Isagi pushes forward with Sae. He thinks that even if Sae was able to predict his play, he still has this moment right in front of the goal to do something. Even against the genius, Sae, Isagi thinks he still has a 50/50 chance. He steels himself and says he doesn't care about predictions because it doesn't matter; all that matters is this infighting. Isagi readies his right leg to kick the ball, focusing all of his thought on his leg reaching the ball in the perfect spot. Isagi is just one step away when Sae looks at Isagi's form and performs a light shoulder-tackle that effectively causes Isagi to lose his balance, and Sae tells him that he is acting too hasty. Without a stable core, Isagi won't be able to use his direct shot. Sae's action baffles Isagi just now because he does not know how he lost his balance from such a light tackle.

Isagi feels as if all his options have been squashed when suddenly, Rin Itoshi emerges from the right side of the center, and he tells Isagi to look at him. Isagi realizes that Sae was not the only one to predict his perfect play, and Isagi puts all his remaining energy and focus into passing the ball while off-balance. As the ball heads towards Rin, Oliver Aiku comes from behind Rin, having predicted Isagi and Rin's combo. He tells them not to think he can be beaten so easily by a surprise attack. The ball bounces with Rin and Aiku gunning for it while blocking each other; they are one step away from the ball when out of nowhere Shoei Baro comes from the center while holding back Kazuma Nio and Miroku Darai, which surprises Rin and Aiku. Aiku questions why Baro is at that spot when he didn't get there by chasing Isagi. Still, while holding back the two defenders, Baro thanks Isagi for this perfect play as he crouches down on one leg and swings his right foot to the ball, kicking it with intense power into the upper left pocket of the goal. The crowd is mind-blown as Hirotoshi Buratsuta and Anri Teieri look on in utter disbelief. Baro, completely ecstatic, takes his shirt off and jumps as he roars from his super goal, as now the game is tied, 3-3.
