"Extreme Focus" (
Overview[]
Baro runs further out to the wing, losing Hayate but gaining Darai as a mark. Darai thinks and tries to react to all the possible plays Baro could perform, but Baro's selfish yet technically superb play style totally dumbfounds him, getting confused and left behind at the slightest doubt. By performing another chop-dribble, Baro opens space for himself and shoots an insane power shot with his left leg, but the ball hits the goalpost, bouncing off and landing into Yukimiya's hands.
Yukimiya enters Flow State in response to Baro causing chaos and crumbling the state of the field. Yukimiya loses Neru and starts to perform a La Croqueta through the field, dodging everything in his way. As Yukimiya prepares a shot, Nio runs to him, planning to double-press Yukimiya with Neru, but Yukimiya focuses and shoots an insanely sharp gyro shot between the two defenders that spins to the left side of the goal, opposite of where the defenders and goalie are. At the very last second, Aiku comes from the right and headbutts the shot, saving the team. Afterwards, he runs and headbutts the ball again to clear it, and Yukimiya realizes he has entered Flow State.
Summary[]
The commentator notes on Shoei Baro's surprising break through the defense as Baro runs further out to the wing, completely losing Haru Hayate. Gen Fukaku prepares himself as Miroku Darai marks Baro, calling him a bizarre wildcard. Baro glances at the inside of the field towards Yoichi Isagi and Rin Itoshi, and Darai notices, making him think Baro might pass, but he reconsiders that, thinking Baro is not the type to pass, but there's no way he can shoot from the angle they are at. As Isagi calls out to Baro, Darai notices and prepares himself for a possible combination between Baro and Isagi, thinking that either way he will not move further outside into the wing until Baro does just that. Baro increases his speed, moves further to the wing, and charges up the field. Isagi calls for Baro again, and Darai thinks that if they get a pass in, that's over, but Baro performs another chop dribble to the inside, totally dumbfounding Darai. Isagi tells Baro to stop playing games and pass, and Baro replies that even if the sky is falling down, he won't pass to him, and he will devour him along with this match. Baro kicks an insane power shot with his left foot, but it hits the goalpost, bouncing off. Seishiro Nagi calls Baro an anserine, Hayate says Baro is causing complete disarray, and Isagi calls it a second ball.
The ball falls into the possession of Kenyu Yukimiya, whom Teppei Neru marks him. Yukimiya takes note that the Japan U-20 formation has crumbled due to Baro's presence on the field, and now he must take the opportunity to set up the most optimal goal. As Neru taunts Yukimiya, moving to guard him, Yukimiya enters Flow State, visualizing in his head the best possible path to take to the goal. As he begins his charge to the left, Neru notices and moves to guard, but Yukimiya immediately switches gears to the right, blowing past Neru. Yukimiya realizes he still can't shoot yet and must take it up a notch. He thinks that because of Baro creating such chaos, he is able to take an unforeseen route, and he transitions into a La Croqueta at full speed, surprising Neru. Neru notes that before Yukimiya was just using the space in a 1v1, but now he is cutting between the open spaces that lie between friend and foe, dodging and weaving through the field like a fine needle. Neru realizes that Yukimiya is running through the field as if he is dodging obstacles, a dribble style that is only born from playing street football. Yukimiya tells everybody to get out of his way as he keeps dashing towards the goal. As Yukimiya uses Hayate's body as a shield, he sets up the perfect goal for himself, realizing it will only be open for a split second, but Kazuma Nio tells him to try to shoot as he marks him and begins running towards him. Yukimiya realizes he can't avoid Nio's pressure and that his perfect goal is being erased, but he doesn't panic and thinks there is still time. Yukimiya concentrates and thinks that he must find the next best goal; using his Flow State to guide him, Yukimiya shoots his very best gyro shot, right between Neru and Nio; instead of heading for the right corner, it spins hard to the left. Neru and Nio are shocked at the gyro shot, and as Yukimiya smiles in satisfaction, thinking he will score, Oliver Aiku comes from the right side to headbutt the sharp shot at the last second, surprising Yukimiya. Yukimiya thinks that there is no way Aiku could have predicted the shot since he was on the right side and it came from the defense's blindside, but he jumped to the perfect spot without hesitating with no guarantee of success. Aiku's playstle consists of reacting accordingly to a play he watches first; this kind of gamble is not like him. Aiku reacts to his amazing save and thinks that he feels totally crazy right now. He can see the most critical point in the defense; actually, his whole body can feel it, and as he runs to the saved ball, he jumps to clear it. Yukimiya realizes Aiku has entered Flow State, and Aiku thinks that this is the moment he has been waiting for.
