"Dictator" (
Overview[]
Blue Lock subs in Baro for Otoya, but Baro is playing right wing while Hiori moves back to right sideback. Isagi tries to talk strategy with Baro, but Baro just rebuts with trash talk. As the team readies themselves, Rin tells his team that there is no need to balance themselves; they just need to attack.
Anri wonders if Blue Lock will really be alright, but Ego rebuts by saying the match has gone exactly as he predicted: Blue Lock and Shido dominating the game and a player who wishes to still win, even in such dire circumstances. He, however, did not envision that the egos cultivated in Blue Lock and the passion to win from his players would far exceed his expectations. He says that the Blue Lock just might be able to create football's most critical moment.
As the game resumes with Blue Lock in possession, Isagi notes on his mission with Baro on the field and starts trading passes with just Rin. This surprises the defense, and when Rin passes to Hiori, Rin and Isagi rush forward to pass the defenders. Hiori sends the ball flying to Isagi, who is ready to receive it, but Hayate comes from behind to intercept when Baro steals the ball. Baro charges past Hayate, who tries to defend him but is unable to keep up with his irregular play style. Ego notes that Baro's irregular imperial play style will bring chaos onto the field and will bring forth a game even he cannot predict.
Summary[]
With 30 minutes left in the second half, Blue Lock uses its last substitution to play Shoei Baro. Baro takes to the field, replacing Eita Otoya. Otoya, a little upset, comments to Baro that his killing intent is too strong and obvious; the defenders will see him coming. Baro blatantly tells him to shut the heck up and says he is just pressuring them. Blue Lock once again switches its formation, with Baro coming in as the right wing and Yo Hiori moving to the right sideback. Isagi walks up to Baro and starts talking strategy, but Baro interrupts and tells him he noticed his plays have been boring. Isagi thinks that Baro needs to shut up and focus since he is their last substitute, but Isagi looks back and knows that subbing in Baro is a sign of Jinpachi Ego's trust in Blue Lock. With Baro's extra offensive capabilities, Ego is telling his team to annihilate the enemy with their overwhelming offense. Anri notes that this current formation was not one commonly practiced, and she asks if Blue Lock will really be okay without a plan. Ego smugly responds that he had always planned to use Baro from the very beginning, and he never planned to throw the match. He reminds her that this game has played out exactly how he envisioned it, including that there would be a player who still wishes to win, despite the overwhelming circumstances. However, he comments that he did not expect the egos in Blue Lock and the passion from his players to far exceed his expectations. Anri asks if Ego is implying that they still have a chance, and Ego responds by telling her to just watch; the current Blue Lock might just be able to create football's most critical moment.
Isagi and Baro walk up to the rest of the offense, and Nagi greets Baro. Baro tells Nagi that he scored a single goal and fell flat, so he should just shut up and pass to him. Nagi says he doesn't want to, and Nagi and Baro exchange looks. Rin Itoshi interjects and tells his team to forget about balancing each other out; all forwards can rush in and attack as they please because they will win even if they have to crush each other to do it. Kenyu Yukimiya calls out Rin's intensity. Baro tells him to shut up because he isn't getting crushed here, and Nagi agrees, saying it's because they will win. Isagi notes that Blue Lock's current formation is its strongest, geared totally towards offense. The game resumes with Blue Lock in possession.
As Isagi runs down the field, he notes Baro's weapon is his charge dribbles and his 28-meter shooting range. If Baro is free in his territory and receives the ball, his chance of scoring is high. What Isagi has to do is lead Baro to that area while also shadowing him and finding a chance to score. Baro starts to recall his individual meeting with Ego; Ego tells him to dribble on both sides to break the enemy's formation so the other's can attack with their skills, but altogether, he should not worry about the plan. Baro says he wasn't going to anyway, and Ego responds in kind by telling Baro all he has to do is focus on Isagi. To the very end of the match, Baro should focus on stealing goals from Isagi. As Baro finishes recalling, he runs into Haru Hayate, and Hayate thinks of what Baro will be capable of. Isagi and Rin start trading passes, totally ignoring Baro, and Rin surprises Hayate by passing the ball back to Hiori. Hiori prepares to kick the ball and tells the strikers to get started. Isagi and Rin both dash towards the penalty zone, which surprises Hayate again. He thinks he must guard the most dangerous one, but with Sendo guarding Rin, he just needs to worry about Isagi. Hiori kicks a pass to Isagi, who sees it but notices Hayate too late and is about to get the ball intercepted, but Baro forcefully sweeps it up, effectively stealing the ball. Baro's actions confuse Isagi, and as Hayate moves to defend, Baro says he is "Isagi-Hunting." Hayate notes that Baro's play style is absurd and how he was supposed to predict such an attack. In the stands, Ego comments that Baro's play style doesn't care for rationality; the more knowledgeable you are in football, the more susceptible you are to his style. Baro suddenly performs a chop-dribble, surprising Hayate, who cannot keep up with him at all. Ego states that this is why he is Blue Lock's joker card; he creates chaos for both sides of the battlefield, completely self-centered in his plays. As Baro rushes past Hayate, Ego tells him to bring forth chaos and that these last 30 minutes, even he won't be able to predict.
