Blue Lock Wiki

Cops and Robbers (泥棒 (どろぼう) 警察 (けいさつ) Dorobō to Keisatsu?) is the 113th chapter of the Blue Lock manga series.

Overview[]

The players on Team Blue Lock's bench are informed by Ego that Shidou is not starting the game and are surprised and offended. Ego points out the details don't matter because it does not change their goal of winning. The game officially starts, and Blue Lock flows past the Japan U-20 defense using a triangle passing formation, and Bachira and Chigiri move up the field. Bachira receives the ball and dribbles past a defender before sending the ball strongly into the penalty zone, straight to Isagi. Before Isagi can even react to the ball, though, Aiku is in the air, about to intercept the pass. As he stops the pass, Aiku tells Isagi he won't Blue Lock score at all, and this excites Isagi.

Summary[]

In Team Blue Lock's locker room, the bench players are surprised to find out Ryusei Shidou is not on the Japan U-20's starting lineup. Jingo Raichi asks why this is the case and asks if the Japan U-20 are looking down on them. Yo Hiori comments that maybe Shidou did not mix well with their team either, and Jinpachi Ego comments that part of that is true, but they should not worry because it does not change what they have to do. Ego tells his team of unpolished gems to execute the plan.

On the field, the game officially starts with Blue Lock in possession. The crowd cheers, and the spectators look in awe as the game begins. Yoichi Isagi notes he will change the world with his goals, and as he receives the ball, he runs into his first obstacle, Sae Itoshi. Isagi remembers that the offense is made up of him, Rin Itoshi, and Seishiro Nagi, and he begins a passing formation with the two of them effectively getting through the midfield. In a flashback, Ego is explaining the initial 4-5-1 Blue Lock formation with Rin as the lead, but he notes that this is their formation only when they are defending. When they are on the offensive, Blue Lock will run a 3-6-1 formation with Tabito Karasu falling back to the defensive zone as a third back and Meguru Bachira and Hyoma Chigiri moving up to crowd the midfield and pressure the enemy. This offensive formation is only possible because the Blue Lock Eleven are a team made up of only strikers; it is a variable formation that allows for goals to be scored from possibly anywhere, Blue Lock's super aggressive system. As Bachira and Chigiri move up the field past the U-20 defenders, the U-20 notices but watches, and in that moment, Isagi passes the ball to Bachira, determined not to waste this moment.

Bachira lob pass to Isagi

Bachira breaks through the defense

As Bachira receives the ball, Haru Hayate immediately marks him, asking if Bachira is going to come at him or not. Bachira responds and starts with hyper-speed scissors, then performs a double-touch feint, and without slowing down, he transitions into an aerial rush turn, effectively breaking past Hayate. These moves surprise the crowd, but Bachira is still focused and starts looking for someone to link up with. The only person he sees linking up with him and his best moves are Isagi, and Bachira smiles as he knew Isagi would be the only one. Bachira, ecstatic at this moment, sends a long pass into the penalty zone. Isagi thinks the pass was perfect and that Blue Lock has effectively broken through the Japan U-20, and as Isagi prepares to receive the pass, Oliver Aiku is already in the air, about to intercept the pass in midair. Oliver does a clean headbutt, effectively clearing the ball, and Isagi and Bachira stand baffled by Aiku's response.

Isagi questions how Aiku was able to react so cleanly to their play. The only way for Aiku to have intercepted that pass is if he wasn't marking Isagi specifically but the whole field. Aiku took all the field's factors into account and then moved by reflex to the most critical point. Isagi, frightened by Aiku's capabilities, wonders how far his parameters go as the captain of the Japan U-20. Aiku calls out to Iasgi and tells him that often strikers are compared to robbers and defenders to cops, so on his watch he won't let any robbers steal any goals. The crowd starts chanting Aiku's name, and Isagi starts thinking to himself. Even though Bachira and him brought out their best plays, he saw right through it and shut it down in an instant. Isagi stands frustrated at the amazingness of the Japan U-20 team and thinks how fun this game will be. Isagi notes that he has found someone to challenge and responds to Aiku's statement by saying he can go ahead and try, but he is going to have to put a leash on him.
