Newcomer (新参者 (しんさんもの) Shinsanmono?) is the 110th chapter of the Blue Lock manga series.

Overview[]

At the Japan U-20 training camp, the U-20 coach and players are gathered to formally induct Sae Itoshi to the team. While some of the players are taken aback by Sae's presence, Shuto Sendo is not so impressed and even insults Sae. Ryusei Shido, who is also in the room, backs Sae up and ends up in a violent dispute with Sendo, forcing him to be stopped and contained by the team captain, Oliver Aiku.

At the Blue Lock training camp, Isagi, Bachira, and Chigiri are on the sidelines looking at the profiles of the Japan U-20 and coming up with a strategy, albeit a simple one. Their training session is over, and Isagi goes wondering what he can do for the team when he runs into Rin still training even though they are supposed to be taking a break. Isagi tries to help Rin take a break, but he says Isagi is just in his way, and for the first time ever, Isagi sees Rin seething with anger and totally obsessed with beating his brother. A little taken aback, Isagi convinces Rin to take a break by saying if he gets hurt or is unable to play, the team loses and Isagi doesn't need any problems.

Later in a meeting room in Blue Lock, the players are gathered in front of Ego, for he is about to explain an important concept, Flow.

Summary[]

At the Japan U-20 training camp, the selected national players are gathered in a room facing their coach, Yasumori Hoichi. He announces to his team that the Japan National Representative Match is in two weeks and reminds them that they are Japan's players chosen for the sake of victory, and joining them will be Sae Itoshi, who walks in wearing a Japan U-20 tracksuit, a bit uncaring. Some of the players are taken aback by Sae's presence, but Shuto Sendo rudely interjects that he just looks like a spoiled prince, and the other Japan U-20 players take note and ask about Ryusei Shido, who is also sitting with them in a Japan U-20 tracksuit, but Sendo guesses he is just Sae's tag along. Hoichi reminds the team that they will be facing Team Blue Lock and they must maintain the dignity of the national team, and losing is completely out of the question. Hoichi asks Sae to add a few words to his speech.

A bit surprised and annoyed, Sae tells the entire room to be thankful that they get to play football with him. He does not have the slightest interest in any of them, and since they will never have this chance again, they should do their best not to anger him off. Everybody in the room is surprised at Sae's words, but Sendo becomes offended and tells him to get off his horse because, while he may be a world-famous player, he is just in the semi-pro leagues. Sendo is on the best team in Japan, so he tells Sae to watch his mouth because he is superior to him right now. Sae questions the materiality of his statement and notes that Sendo will just compete to be the best scorer in the nation, get on the national team, receive a salary of $500,000, marry a beautiful and curved model, and then live a happy life; that will be the peak of his career. Sendo just stands there imagining all of what Sae described and thinks how that sounds, but Sae tells him that his singular interest is to become the best in the world; there is a fundamental difference in the depths of their greed, so he tells Sendo to anger off.

Sendo tries to rebuttal, but Shido comes from behind and slams Sendo's head into the table before he can finish responding. Shido says Sendo's need to get hung up on titles is so lame, and he is the one who needs to watch his damn mouth. The entire team is immediately angered off at Shido's violent behavior towards their team's Ace, and they surround him. He tells them to all come at him, and if he wins, he gets to become a regular. Sendo recovers and tells him that a nobody from nowhere like him does not get to tell him what to do, and he attempts to attack Shido but he dodges. Shido decides he will beat Sendo first and prepares to kick him in the face when Oliver Aiku grabs Shido's leg mid-swing and tells him to calm down. He says Shido is really looking down on them. Shido tries to attack Aiku with his other leg, but Aiku dodges, grabs Shido's other leg, and spins him around, pinning him to the floor. Aiku tells him he likes his spirit, but it is out on the field where he is supposed to show his stuff. Kazuma Nio asks Aiku if he needs a hand with Shido, but Aiku confirms he is fine and everything is chill. Aiku also points out to Sae that if he wants the Japan U-20's confidence, then he needs to do more than talk a big game; he needs to actually play a good one. When he does, the defenders of the Japan U-20 will have his back. The Iron Wall Quartet, the defenders of the Japan U-20, consisting of Oliver Aiku, Kazuma Nio, Miroku Darai, and Teppei Neru, stand together confident in their abilities.

At a training field in Blue Lock, all the Blue Lock players are doing their exercises, but Yoichi Isagi, Hyoma Chigiri, and Meguru Bachira are sitting on the sidelines looking at the profile of the Japan U-20. They are specifically looking at the profile of Oliver Aiku, who is revealed to be a physically big and strong defender who already has an offer from a Serie-A Italian team. It seems the team is centered around him, which focuses on a strong defense and quick counterplays. Isagi nods his head and understands that they are a defensive team, while Bachira nonchalantly states they just have to break through their defense. Chigiri rebuttals by agreeing with Bachira but saying they are still a team of elite players that's supposed to be the best players under 20 in Japan; they are called the "Diamond Generation." Chigiri says that's what they will be facing with their hyper offense, and it won't be an easy game. Bachira rebuttals by repeating his earlier statement; Isagi notes this repeat, and Bachira decides to say his simple plan a third time. Just then, the intercom announces that the morning session is over and it's time for them to take their break.

Isagi thinks about Bachira's words and notes that if "breaking through" is all he has to do, then he probably doesn't have the power to do that right now. Isagi entering Flow during tryouts was mere luck, and he wonders what it takes to master that ability. Isagi walks down the hallway and sees Rin in a weightlifting room still training. Isagi tells Rin its break time so he should take a breather, but Rin questions his statement and tells him not to group him in together with him and the others. If he is just in the room to get in Rin's way, he can just leave. Isagi states that Rin might hurt himself if he trains too hard, and Rin responds by saying if he breaks down from his nonstop training, then this was all he was going to amount to anyway. Rin starts to do a leg press rep, talking about beating and surpassing his brother Sae, and Isagi sees Rin's face seething with anger. Rin states how long he has been waiting for this moment, and this stuns Isagi. Rin begins to cough, and Isagi hands him his extra water bottle. Rin, confused by Isagi's action, declines the bottle, saying he doesn't need it. Isagi rebuts, saying that if Rin were to get hurt, then Blue Lock would be done for, and that would cause a problem for him. Isagi doesn't want any problems, so he tells him to drink the water and stop complaining. Rin scoffs at Isagi and takes the water, calling it lukewarm. Isagi tells him to shut up and he walks away. As he is walking away, Isagi notes that he has never seen Rin look like that before and that he wants to win alongside Rin. Just then, the bell rings for the afternoon session of the training camp to begin.

In the Blue Lock meeting room, the Blue Lock players are gathered with Ego standing in front of them. Ego asks how Team Blue Lock is feeling after the first day of their last training camp. He says he is sure their bodies are waking up; now it's time to wake up their brains as well. They are there to talk about the "miracle equation," the phenomenon that is indispensable to a striker aiming to become the best in the world, Flow. Ego will reveal what he knows and teach them how to set their lives ablaze.
