Blue Lock (ブルーロック, Burū Rokku?) is a Japanese TV anime series based on the manga Blue Lock written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. The anime first aired in 2022 on TV Asahi's "NUMAnimation" programming block, on October 9 at 1:30AM. Tetsuaki Watanabe directs the series at 8bit. The series can currently be viewed on Prime Video.
The second season titled Blue Lock vs U-20 Japan (ブルーロック VS. U-20 JAPAN, Burū Rokku VS. U-20 JAPAN?) began airing on October 5, 2024 at 11:30PM on TV Asahi's "IMAnimation" programming block with the last episode concluding on December 28, 2024.
Plot[]
After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan's team struggles to regroup. But what's missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win. The Japan Football Union is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match... and to do so, they've gathered 300 of Japan's best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team... and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
